This evening of conversation features Senator Bernie Sanders joined by Dr. Cornel West to discuss Sanders' new book, It's OK to Be Angry About Capitalism, and the tough questions he believes the American people must ask in these turbulent times.

How can we accept an economic order that allows three billionaires to control more wealth than the bottom half of our society? How can we accept a political system that allows the super-rich to buy elections and politicians? How can we accept an energy system that rewards the fossil fuel corporations causing the climate crisis?

In It's OK to Be Angry About Capitalism, Senator Sanders presents a vision for democracy as we should know it and what he believes would be possible if the political revolution took place if we would finally recognize that economic rights are human rights and if we would work to create a society that provides a decent standard of living for all.

Bernie Sanders is serving his third term in the US Senate and is the longest-serving Independent member of Congress in American history. As the Chair of the Budget Committee, he successfully led the passage of the American Rescue Plan. He now serves as Chair of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, where he leads the fight for Medicare for All and tuition-free public colleges and universities, and sits on the Environment and Public Works Committee, where he has focused on global warming and rebuilding our nation's crumbling infrastructure.

Dr. Cornel West is a philosopher, author, activist, and the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair at Union Theological Seminary. He is the former Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard University and Professor Emeritus at Princeton University. He has written 20 books and has edited 13.
