Words From the Wings: SIX's Keri Rene Fuller on Her Favorite Backstage Moments, and More!

Today we're chatting with Keri Rene Fuller from Six, who told us all about her favorite backstage moments, must-have snacks, and more! Check out her answers below!

What's the first thing you do when you arrive to the theatre?

When I arrive at the theatre, I sign in via the QR code on our company board and my favorite thing to do is say hi to all the crew on my way to my SR dressing room :)

What's the last thing you do before you go on stage?

Before the show, the whole cast meets on SR backstage so we can grab our mics, test our IEM (in ear monitors), and make sure we can hear the conductor before we arrive at places.

What's your must-have backstage snack?

Trader Joe's really comes through for me with their almond butter filled pretzels. I can't eat too much before the show because my corset just simply wouldn't have that, so it's nice to have a little snack on those guys to tide me over until the end of the show. Those and Tropical Flavored Hi-Chews haha

Pre-show ritual that others may think is weird?

It is probably very disappointing to people when they hear that I don't have any preshow rituals for this show. I hate to let people down, but I have a very very normal preshow, I hope y'all can forgive me lol

What are five must-haves in your dressing room?

I need need need Jakeman's black licorice candies. They clear my sinuses out like no other and leave me decently hydrated in the throat throughout the show. And I absolutely have to have my face oil to get all that makeup off my face post show.

What's your favorite moment from the show to watch from the wings?

I have never been in a show where I haven't been able to watch part of the show from the wings, but this is a very unique experience in that we are onstage for the whole show! We exit only 3 times and we are only offstage for about 15-30 seconds before we re-enter. So in those tiny tiny snippets of time, I get my wig brushed out and drink some water while I try and cool down.

What has been your favorite backstage moment in your time with this show so far?

I love when small things go wrong...nothing crazy, I just mean tiny technical things...so I love the adrenaline when my mic holster snaps onstage or something like that and we get the opportunity to fix it in the extremely short time offstage. Our crews are truly unreal and I can't believe how I got so lucky to have them, so as much as I hate when they have to fix things in a flash, they shine like meteors when they pull it off.
