Stephen Sondheim's INTO THE WOODS Opens This Weekend At The Heights Players

An enchanting and whimsical production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's iconic musical Into the Woods comes to Brooklyn for a limited engagement at The Heights Players-Brooklyn's longest-running sustaining theater.

The musical, opening this Friday, October 7th, is presented as part of the theater's 67th season-tickets and more information can be found at www.heightsplayers.org.

Spells, magic beans, princes, royal balls, and giants abound in this modern musical classic about love, family, and the things we wish for. At the heart of the show's plot are the interconnected journeys of beloved fairytale characters, portrayed in this production by Blaze Levario (The Witch), Joe Bliss (Baker), Helora Danna (Baker's Wife), Gary Lizardo (Narrator/Mysterious Man), Rachel Herring (Cinderella), Gareth Hogan (Jack), and Chelsea Remick (Little Red Riding Hood).

Braving the woods by their side are Grace Lazos (Jack's Mother), Anna Bencivengo (Repunzel), Noah Chartrand (Cinderella's Prince), Sylvester Nunnery (Rapunzel's Prince), Jacob Clark Boggs (Stepmother), Rebekah Shea Rivera (Florinda), Taylor Beckman (Lucinda, u/s Little Red Riding Hood), Martha Sue Allen (Cinderella's Mother/Granny/Giant), Alan Gonzalez (Wolf, u/s Cinderella's Prince, Rapunzel's Prince, Stepmother), J. Scot Cahoon (Cinderella's Father), Sam Brownell (Steward), and Amanda Briskin-Wallace (Milky White).

The production is also supported by several understudies who will cover multiple roles through the show's run: Kate Fuentes (u/s The Witch), Dominic Fleshman (u/s The Baker), Jeanne Cascio (u/s The Baker's Wife), Amelie Jacobs (u/s Cinderella), Bryan Cordova (u/s Jack), Chris Carlson (u/s Narrator/Mysterious Man), Sophia Masterson (u/s Rapunzel/Cinderella's Mom/Granny/Giant), and Cassaundra Reed (u/s Florinda/Lucinda/Milky White).

Directed by Hilary Goldman with musical direction by Cathy Corcoran and choreography by Cassaundra Reed, Into the Woods is staged in the three-quarter round of the John Bourne Theatre. The production staff and creative team includes production stage manager and assistant director Felisha Heng, set designer Gary VanderPutten, costume designer Kaitlyn Day, intimacy choreographer Katlyn Shaw, lighting designer Noel MacDuffie, properties designer Dina Grilli, puppet designer Mo Mushin, assistant stage managers Katie Crawford and Vanessa Lynah, and graphic designer Ruthie Rosenfeld.

Into the Woods will run for nine performances only from Friday, October 7th through Sunday, October 23rd at The Heights Players in Brooklyn Heights.
