The New York Pops-led by Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke- will be joined by guest artists Nikki Renée Daniels (Broadway's Company, The Book of Mormon), Jordan Donica (Broadway's My Fair Lady, The Phantom of the Opera; San Francisco and Los Angeles companies of Hamilton), Matt Doyle (2022 Tony Award Winner for Best Featured Actor in a Musical in Company), and Melissa Errico (Broadway's My Fair Lady, High Society, Amour), as well as Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall for Broadway Blockbusters.

The concert features iconic works by Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and more, including "(Not) Getting Married Today" from Company, "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?" from My Fair Lady, and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" from The Sound of Music.

The New York Pops

is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Led by Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, the orchestra performs an annual subscription series at Carnegie Hall, and is among the venue's most presented ensembles. Now in its milestone 40th season, The New York Pops' annual birthday gala is celebrated each spring, raising funds for the orchestra and its education programs. The New York Pops performs annually in Queens, NY at Forest Hills Stadium, a 14,000-seat historic concert venue.

Through its PopsEd music education programs, The New York Pops fulfills its dedication to lifelong learning by collaborating with public schools, community organizations, and senior centers throughout the five boroughs of New York City. PopsEd allows thousands of New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds to participate in fully customizable music programs that blend traditional education with pure fun.

The New York Pops was founded by Ruth and Skitch Henderson in 1983 with a mission to create greater public awareness and appreciation of America's rich musical heritage through presentation of concerts and education programs of the highest quality. The New York Pops is a non-profit organization supported solely through the generosity of individual donations, institutional grants, corporate sponsorships, and concert income.

Steven Reineke

has established himself as one of North America's leading conductors of popular music and is in his second decade as Music Director of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, he is Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Principal Pops Conductor of the Houston and Toronto Symphony Orchestras.

Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and his extensive North American conducting appearances include Dallas, Detroit and the Ravinia Music Festival.

On stage, Mr. Reineke has created programs and collaborated with a range of leading artists from the worlds hip hop, R & B, Broadway, television and rock including: Maxwell, Common, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Cynthia Erivo, Sutton Foster, Megan Hilty, Cheyenne Jackson, Wayne Brady, Peter Frampton and Ben Folds, amongst others. In 2017 he was featured on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" leading the National Symphony Orchestra - in a first for the show's 45-year history - performing live music excerpts in between news segments. In 2018 Reineke led the National Symphony Orchestra with hip hop legend Nas performing his seminal album "Illmatic" on PBS's Great Performances.

As the creator of more than one hundred orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Mr. Reineke's work has been performed worldwide, and can be heard on numerous Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recordings on the Telarc label. His symphonic works Celebration Fanfare, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Casey at the Bat are performed frequently in North America, including performances by the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic. His Sun Valley Festival Fanfare was used to commemorate the Sun Valley Summer Symphony's pavilion, and his Festival Te Deum and Swan's Island Sojourn were debuted by the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops Orchestras. His numerous wind ensemble compositions are published by the C.L. Barnhouse Company and are performed by concert bands worldwide.

A native of Ohio, Mr. Reineke is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio (2020 Alumnus Distinguished Achievement Medal), where he earned bachelor of music degrees with honors in both trumpet performance and music composition. He currently resides in New York City with his husband Eric Gabbard.

Nikki Renée Daniels

recently played Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton at the CIBC Theater in Chicago. Broadway: Company (Jenny), The Book of Mormon (Nabulungi), The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess (Clara), Les Misérables (Fantine), Anything Goes, Promises, Promises, Aida, Nine, Little Shop of Horrors, Lestat, and The Look of Love. Ms. Daniels made her New York City Opera debut as Clara in Porgy and Bess. Other New York credits include Martha Jefferson in 1776 at City Center Encores, Rose Lennox in The Secret Garden at David Geffen Hall and Tracy in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. On television, Nikki has appeared as a featured player on "Chappelle's Show," "Madam Secretary," and "The Sound of Music: Live." She has performed as a soloist with numerous symphony orchestras across the country and in Canada, and at Carnegie Hall. Jordan Donica

most recently starred as Jordan Chase in the CW's Charmed. He recently guest starred in the award-winning police procedural drama Blue Bloods. Jordan originated the role of Freddy Eynsford-Hill in the Tony nominated Lincoln Center Theater production of My Fair Lady, and also starred as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the Los Angeles and San Francisco companies of Hamilton. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jordan made his debut starring as the leading man, Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, in the historic Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera. He also played Rapunzel's Prince in Into the Woods at Encores!. In addition to his theater and TV work, Jordan was featured at the Washington National Opera gala at The Kennedy Center, the Pasadena Symphony, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He starred as Lancelot in Lincoln Center Theater's gala production of Camelot, opposite Lin Manuel Miranda. Jordan was also featured at the American Songbook Hall of Fame celebration at the invitation of Michael Feinstein. Jordan directed a gala performance of the play "Exonerated" at Northwestern University for the Center on Wrongful Convictions. Jordan is a 2016 graduate of Otterbein University, where he graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre Cum Laude. An ambassador for The Innocence Project, family is everything to Jordan, because without the "Little Village" of women who raised him, he would not be where he is today.

Matt Doyle

won the 2022 Tony Award for 'Best Featured Actor in a Musical' for his performance as Jamie in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Company, for which he also won Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, and received a Drama League Award nomination. His Broadway credits also include Tony-winning Musicals The Book of Mormon (in the lead role of 'Elder Price') and Spring Awakening; 'Best Play' winner War Horse; and the revival of the beloved musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie. Regionally, he most recently starred in the world premiere of the Huey Lewis musical The Heart of Rock & Roll at The Old Globe Theater in San Diego; and played 'Melchoir' in the national tour of Spring Awakening. His Off Broadway and regional credits also include Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, A Clockwork Orange, Brooklynite, Giant, and Jasper in Deadland. Onscreen, he has appeared on CBS's The Code, the original Gossip Girl, and can also be seen in HBO MAX's Gossip Girl and in the indie feature Private Romeo. Matt has performed at Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops, at symphonies across the country, and continues to headline a sold-out solo show throughout New York City.

Melissa Errico

is a Tony Award-nominated Broadway star, concert artist, and author. The Wall Street Journal recently referred to her as a "nonpareil cabaret singer" and called her 2018 album, Sondheim Sublime, "The best all-Sondheim album ever recorded". That album led to sold-out concert dates around the country--from Ravinia to Caramoor and Wolftrap-as well as in London and Paris. Her Sondheim roles on stage include Dot in Sunday In The Park With George at The Kennedy Center, Clara in Passion at Classic Stage Company; and Leona in the NY City Center Encores! production of Do I Hear A Waltz? In 2020, she sang "Children and Art" in the Sondheim 90th Birthday Concert "Take Me To The World," and was featured on PBS television in a documentary special in which she sang "Finishing The Hat" and discussed Sondheim and his lyrics with Adam Gopnik and Raul Esparza for Poetry in America.

Her starring roles on Broadway include My Fair Lady, Amour, High Society. Among her other musical mainstays is Michel Legrand who arranged and conducted her symphonic album "Legrand Affair." She was the only American performer invited to sing at the extraordinary two-day memorial to Legrand in 2019 at Paris' Grand Rex theater. She has also sung countless concerts of American song, ranging from Randy Newman to Irving Berlin, including stints at the 92 St Y, Birdland, Joe's Pub, Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Lincoln Center's Allen Room, and many appearances at Feinstein's/ 54 Below, with her special concert-essay about coming back to New York was held over for encores twice last fall. Her latest album, Out Of The Dark: The Film Noir Project was just released from Warner Music/Ghostlight Records and began life as a specially commissioned bilingual series of concerts at the French Institute/Alliance Francaise.

An active writer all her life, she has since 2016 authored a series of pieces for The New York Times under the special rubric of "Scenes From The Acting Life," which she is in the process of adapting into a book.

Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA

(EVUSA) is one of New York's preeminent choral ensembles. EVUSA comprises a talented roster of seasoned professionals and auditioned volunteers, dynamically fitted to the unique needs of each project. They perform with The New York Pops on their Carnegie Hall subscription series and have appeared at Lincoln Center and on NPR'S Tiny Desk Concerts. EVUSA recently released the recording of "Washington Women," a collection of choral songs, scored for mixed chorus, piano and cello, by David Chase and Judith Clurman. Judith Clurman conducts Essential Voices USA and the Singing Tree Float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and currently teaches at the Manhattan School of Music. Her work has received Emmy and Grammy nominations and she has collaborated with the major classical orchestras and conductors of the world. She was Director of Choral Activities at The Juilliard School for 18 years and a faculty member for the National Endowment for the Arts/Columbia University Institute in Classical Music and Opera. Her music and arrangements are published by G. Schirmer, Schott, and Hal Leonard, and have been performed by the Detroit, Houston, National, Toronto, and San Francisco Symphonies and the New York and Boston Pops.
