The Other Josh Cohen

Producers Suzanne Gilad & Larry Rogowsky announced today that the hit musical comedy The Other Josh Cohen will end its extended Off-Broadway run at The Westside Theatre on April 7, 2019. A National Tour will launch in 2020, cities and dates will be announced at a later date.

Directed by Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster, the musical began performances October 26th and received widespread critical acclaim, extending past its initial closing date of February 24th. The Other Josh Cohen features Book, Music and Lyrics by Drama Desk nominees David Rossmer (upcoming: Monopoly for Broadway; The Perfect Mate at Pittsburgh CLO; Alexa...for Audible) and Steve Rosen (upcoming: Secret of My Success at The Paramount Theatre, Chicago and The Curious Case of the Curse of Count Dracula at The Maltz-Jupiter Theatre), who also co-star in the title role. Their working relationship continues with a soon-to-be announced Broadway musical as well as a television pilot with Radical Media.

"Producing The Other Josh Cohen has been the joy of a lifetime - and having it be such a successful engagement at The Westside Theatre is the cherry on top!," said Gilad and Rogowsky in a joint statement. "Due to exciting but unavoidable scheduling conflicts for our brilliant and unsurprisingly in-demand authors & stars, we've slightly adjusted the final date of our extension so that they can lead our final month together on stage. We are proud and beyond excited about the future for all our boys - Steve Rosen, David Rossmer, and especially Josh Cohen, whom you'll be hearing more about very soon!"

Rossmer and Rosen are joined in the cast by Jane Bruce (Jagged Little Pill), Cathryn Wake (Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812), Elizabeth Nestlerode (Once Tour), Luke Darnell (Million Dollar Quartet Vegas), Louis Tucci (Buddy), Zach Spound (Cruel Intentions: The Musical) and Megan Loomis (The Dead 1904).

From the moment audiences enter The Westside Theatre, they are immersed in the quirky world of Josh Cohen's New York City apartment... as it is getting robbed. Thus begins the hilarious rock-and-roll romantic comedy about good-guy-Josh, caught in a lifelong battle with bad luck. Broke and alone, all hope seems lost - until a mysterious letter arrives that changes his life forever. Leading a cast of extraordinary actor-musicians who play as many parts as they do instruments, David Rossmer and Steve Rosen both star as the hapless-yet-warmhearted title character - one eventful year apart - in a 90-minute life-changing laughfest for the whole family that will leave you feeling better about the world. Nominated for six Drama Desk Awards and the Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical upon its world premiere, this hilarious, heartfelt and hummable musical described by Backstage Magazine as "Seinfeld-meets-Rodgers & Hart" makes a triumphant return in an all-new production, hailed by Jesse Green of The New York Times as "a spontaneously charming musical that is just right for right now."

A special studio recording of the musical was released by Yellow Sound Label ahead of its Off-Broadway opening at The Westside Theatre. On the album, The Other Josh Cohen: a musical with songs, Rosen and Rossmer sing the title roles alongside an all-star lineup of special guest performers, including: six-time Emmy Award winner Hank Azaria (The Simpsons, Ray Donovan, Brockmire), two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster ("Younger," Thoroughly Modern Millie), three-time Tony winner Chita Rivera (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara (The King and I), Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart (Aladdin, Hamilton), Tony nominee & Drama Desk winner Brian d'Arcy James (Something Rotten!, Shrek), Tony nominee & Drama Desk winner Richard Kind (The Big Knife, The Producers), Tony nominee Jenn Colella (Come From Away), Emmy-nominated "Westworld" star Jimmi Simpson, Frozen star Caissie Levy, "Psych" star James Roday, Tony Award winner Lindsay Mendez (Carousel), Tony nominee & Drama Desk winner Celia Keenan-Bolger (Peter and the Starcatcher), Tony nominee John Ellison Conlee (The Full Monty), Sara Chase ("Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"), Sarah Bishop (Cabaret), E. Clayton Cornelius (Beautiful), Jeremy Geller (Shrek), Marissa Rosen (R.R.R.E.D.) and Rashidra Scott (Ain't Too Proud). The album, produced by Michael Croiter (Heathers: The Musical, Matilda), was released October 19, 2018, and is now available for digital download on iTunes and Amazon, and in stores nationwide.

In addition to writing and performing The Other Josh Cohen, they co-created the hit comedy variety show Don't Quit Your Night Job, which began at Joe's Pub before moving to a successful run Off-Broadway. For Don't Quit, Rossmer and Rosen wrote special material for the likes of Sting, Sutton Foster, James Corden, Julianna Margulies, Andrea Martin and David Hyde Pierce. Their work has been performed at Joe's Pub, Ars Nova and at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (to benefit The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation).
