Disney Musical BEAUTY AND THE BEAST To be Performed July 19-28 by KidsAlive!

Disney's classic musical "Beauty and the Beast" will be presented July 19-28 by KidsAlive! of Oklahoma City.

The show will be performed by three distinct casts: the Summer Intensive (students aged 11 to 18), Sparks (children aged 4 to 14), and Community Connections (adults and teens performing together, a first for KidsAlive!). All of the performers are from the Oklahoma City area.

The Sparks cast will perform the Broadway Junior version of the show, while Intensive and Community Connections will perform the full Broadway version complete with live orchestra.

"The rationale for using three casts is to provide performance and educational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities," Music Director Chad Haney said.

Shawna Linck, founder and executive director of KidsAlive!, will direct all three productions, with assistance from Artistic Director Alex Prather and from Haney.

"Beauty and the Beast" opens July 19 at 7 p.m. with the Intensive cast. Community Connections opens July 25 at 7 p.m., and Sparks opens July 27 at 10 a.m. All performances will be held in The Auditorium at The Douglass, 600 N. High Avenue, Oklahoma City.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $20. Schedules and ticket details can be found online at kidsaliveokc.org or by calling (405) 637-8528.

"Beauty and the Beast" is intended to kickstart the Community Connections program "as the heart of the story is to look past appearances and first impressions to discover the true beauty in each of us," Ms. Linck said. "This message is so important, since we live in a world that often judges individuals solely on appearances."

The goal of KidsAlive! is to provide a youth theater experience for children of all abilities as a means to foster leadership, teamwork, and the ability to inspire other youth through the power of musical theater, Ms. Linck said.
