Segerstrom Center For The Arts Presents BRILLIANCE: A Night Of Music And Light Silent Disco

FLASHING LIGHTS LIGHTS LIGHTS LIGHTS.. will appear on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, when Brilliance: A Night of Music and Light returns and transforms the plaza into a vision of light, color and music. Bring your family and friends and don your favorite light-up and glow-in-the-dark fashion attire for an evening of music, dance, and illumination! Silent Disco is for everyone!

When the sun goes down, the party lights up with a spectacle of illumination and color. Enjoy the Plaza's disco and dance to the sounds of The Silent DJs. Guests will wear light-up headsets, which can be tuned to one of three channels of music offered by the three Silent DJs. Segerstrom Center and UC Irvine's Emergent Media + Design program are partnering for the third year to allow guests to discover and explore interactive art and technology projects. Segerstrom Center and UCI have a long history of innovative artistic collaborations and Segerstrom Center is excited to showcase cutting-edge art and technology research being developed by UCI students. John Crawford, director of UCI's Emergent Media + Design Institute shares, "I'm thrilled that UC Irvine's partnership with the Segerstrom Center for the Arts continues to evolve with this year's Brilliance event. For the third year in a row, it's wonderful to see the resources and expertise of our two institutions so closely aligned to benefit our local communities." Brilliance will showcase two UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts graduate students' work. Gabby Miller is presenting a site-specific installation with projected moving images, and Alex Lough is performing an original sound piece with audio-reactive lights. In between dancing and experiencing UCI's light work exhibits, make some music of your own on our giant walking piano! Our giant walking piano is 15 ft long and the keys light up when it is played! Have you seen this before? It is the same model of piano as seen in the movie, "Big".

Throughout the evening, refuel at George's Café, open for snacking and beverages, including "Glow Bar" specialty drinks!

Silent disco is a unique way of experiencing live music. Instead of using a traditional sound system to play music on the dance floor, the three Silent DJs hand out special wireless headphones and broadcast the music through the headsets instead of to a speaker system. Through three different channels, guests can pick their distinctive dance vibe. Take off the headsets, and you will not hear the music, but will see people grooving, dancing, laughing and singing badly to their choice of the three stations of music. When the silent disco headphones are on, the sound is crisp and clear anywhere in the venue - whether you are in front, in the back or even in line for food and beverages.

When you decide it's time to chat with your dance partners, the silent disco atmosphere allows you to hold a conversation without yelling. There's no need to lose your voice shouting over booming music: simply slide the silent disco headset partially or completely off and talk freely.

Southern California's only locally owned and operated interactive silent disco company, The Silent DJ delivers full- time professional DJs, each with a minimum of 10 years of experience entertaining crowds of all ages. These professionals spin the best EDM, House, Top 40, Hip-Hop & Old School music. The DJs also work as a team to co-ordinate collective sing-a-longs and dances that add so much to this already unique event.
