Forward Theater Company will begin their 11th season with the Wisconsin premiere of Mary Jane, written by Amy Herzog. This thought-provoking play is fresh from Broadway and will be presented in the Playhouse at Overture Center, September 12 - 29, 2019.

Synopsis: Mary Jane is a single mother and tireless force. Armed with prescriptions, feeding tubes, and medical equipment, she fully embraces the daily grind of caring for her young, sick child. Mary Jane finds laughter and support within her community, and her grace and optimism fend off the persistently looming undertow. Unexpected humor and exuberant warmth illuminate this beautifully detailed and moving story of one woman's commitment to finding the light in a very dark world.

"Mary Jane is an incredible snapshot of a single mother as she navigates our current healthcare system," said Director Jen Uphoff Gray. "But it's more than a commentary on medical care. It's an excellent script with brilliant humor that celebrates this comaradarie that occurs between a group of women who are otherwise strangers. The Variety review got it right - it really is 'theater for anyone with a heart.'"

The production features Advisory Company member Clare Arena Haden (Silent Sky, Fun Home), as well as Caron Buinis, Samara Frame, Tosha Freeman, and Nadja Simmonds. Directed by Mary MacDonald Kerr. Scenic Design by Lisa Schlenker, Lighting Design by Noele Stollmack, Costume Design by Kim Instenes, Sound Designer and Composer is Joe Cerqua, Props Master is Pam Miles. Stage Managers are Tony Reitano and Sarah Deming-Henes.

Tickets are now on sale. They may be purchased online at forwardtheater.com, in person at Overture Center's ticket office, or by calling (608) 258-4141.
