According to The Art Newspaper, French Culture Minister Franck Riester has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Riester is said to be "feeling well" and "resting safe at home" according to the health minister Olivier Veran.

Riester was supposed to meet with representatives from the cinema and performing arts industries on Tuesday to discuss new measures taken to combat the coronavirus outbreak. This comes after the recent decision to ban any public gathering of more than 1,000 people.

Closures have included the Opera House, the Philharmonie de Paris or Le Zénith indoor arena, The Salon du Livre, and more. The Louvre is also only accepting visitors with pre-booked e-tickets and those entitled to free entrance.

Last week, Riester spent several days at parliament, where five MPs have contracted coronavirus. He has not met with French President Emmanuel Macron, but he did attend a cabinet meeting with him last week. No word has been reported on whether or not Macron contracted the virus.
