Review: FRÅN BROADWAY TILL DUVEMÅLA at Sund Nergården

From Broadway to Duvemåla at Sund Nergården 8th of August

One of the most spellbinding concert "arenas" is Sund Nergården where they arrange one concert per year. Sund Nergården is a petit hotel, 1 hours drive south of Stockholm, with a large garden in which the owners Niklas and Johan Asknergård set up a stage and invites artists once a year. As Niklas Asknergård is a former West End star means it quite often has a musical touch. This year Niklas been touring Sweden with "From Broadway to Duvemåla" together with some other West End and international musical stars, all from Sweden. As the final performance for him with this tour he invited them to have the last spring concert and as well as the first autumn concert in his beautiful garden. The concert started with a soul section with Joachim Bergström and the pianist Carl Flemsten who sang a various soulsongs like Stevie Wonders "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" as well as some Bobby Darin and Mac the Knife. Joachim also sang "Shallow" from a Star is Born with Malena Tuvung in the musical act. A great performance by the two.

During this soul act the audience enjoyed a lovely picnic included in the ticket price in the sunny August evening.

At 19:00 the musical part started with all the musical artist, Niklas Asknergård, Alexander Lycke, Emmi Christensson, Malena Tuvung and Laila Adèle on stage and Laila took the vocal lead in The Lion King, the traditional first song of the tour. After a few songs when Alexander Lycke was in the middle of the last high notes of Anthem (I Mitt Hjärtats Land) from Chess the light and the sound from the stage disappeared. Everyone thought it was due to a broken fuse, but it turned out it was a thunderstorm who cut off all power in the area. The power failure lasted for 1.5 hours before the concert could continue. Despite this it was a magical musical evening where we got songs from Les Miserable, Miss Saigon, Grease, The Greatest Showman, Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Chess, Hair, Kristina från Duvemåla , A Star I Born, Cats and others. All songs performed by some of the best musical voices in Sweden and as mentioned before some of them has worked for example in the West End in London. They all sing with so much emotions and love and devotion to the musical songs and their love and energy make all songs magical.

The concept From Broadway to Duvemåla was created by Victoria Tocca and has now been touring for several years with sold out concerts throughout Sweden. The tour will continue in the autumn with Alexaner Lycke, Malena Tuvung, Laila Adèle, Jakob Stadell and Victoria herself.
