SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER Comes to China Teatern

Saturday Night Fever to open at China Teatern the 17th of September
"Saturday Night Fever" will be musical this fall. With a Broadway musical based on the 1970s movie, China Theater will turn the clock back, to the breakthrough and highlights of the disco. The swung-up fashion and disco ball are self-written features. John Travolta's role is played by David Lindgren. The Danish King's grounded Italian mother is played by Suzanne Reuter, the father is played by Samuel Fröler. The disco DJ, the songy Monty is played by Andreas Lundstedt. On stage you also see Sweden's best dancers selected by Bounce choreographer Jennie Widegren. Anders Albien is responsible for directing and Swedish translation.

The musical depicts 19-year-old Tony Manero and his unrestrained but exciting path to success at the disco in Brooklyn. The show is full of Bee-Gee's biggest hits, such as Staying Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever, Tragedy and More Than a Woman.

The Travolta film greatly contributed to the disco dance exploding as a youth movement in the mid-70s. Prior to the breakthrough in Melodifestivalen, David Lindgren worked as a professional dancer for several years.

- Probably I'm not welcome in "Strictly Come Dancing", says David with a smile. Dancing has been a big part of my life, before pop music and acting came in.

The storyline:

Tony Manero is a kind-hearted 19-year-old with style and charm. His job in the paint shop gives him this week's salary, but for Tony, everything revolves around the weekend, becoming king on the dance floor. Tony wants to be the best, but many at the disco compete for a while in the limelight, under the rotating disco.

Manero's raised arm pose, which Travolta made world famous, is Tony's signature on the dance floor. The album from Saturday Night Fever is one of the world's best-selling soundtrack albums of all time. The creators of the music Bee-Gees also go to the white canvas. A biographical film is being recorded right now, in the wake of "Bohemian Rhapsody" (about Freddie Mercury) and "Rocketman" (Elton John).

The film is produced by Steven Spielberg and Graham King, the latter also produced Bohemian Rhapsody. Barry Gibb, the only remaining member of the Bee-Gees, is played by Bradley Cooper.
