Flying Carpet Children Festival 2019 Brings Music To Refugee And Vulnerable Children In Turkey

Flying Carpet Children Festival 2019, held by Turkish NGO, Her Yerde Sanat Dernegi (Sirkhane Social Circus School) in partnership with Mardin Musuem will be held between August 18th-24th in 7 locations in Mardin region in Turkey. 7 nights, 7 locations, 45 artists and 1001 stories.
Flying Carpet curated by Iranian-American composer, Sahba Aminikia, is a volunteer-based collective of world-class musicians, circus artists, visual artists, designer and visionaries who believe in the power of music, circus and arts as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of vulnerable children. The multidisciplinary festival intends to bring cultural events of high quality to the places where it is difficult to remain a child.
The summer festival started in June holding over 100 workshops and is brining 45 artists from 12 countries in order to create the most magical artistic experience for vulnerable children of Syrian, Iraqi, Turkish and Kurdish origin. The locations for the performances include Mardin, Midyat, Kiziltepe Bozhüyük, Istasyon, Dara ruins, Derik and Nusaybin. The festival will open in Mardin Arkeopark on August 18th at 19:30 and will close at Nusaybin Mitanni Kültür Merkezi on August 24th at 18:00. The remaining performances are as follows: Old Midyat at 19:30 on August 19th, Bozhüyük at 19:30, Istasyon Sirkhane at 19:30, Dara Ruins at 19:30 and Derik City Center at 19:30.
