Annenberg Center Presents The Philadelphia Debut Of 47SOUL

The Annenberg Center presents the Philadelphia debut of Jordanian Palestinian electronic band 47SOUL, September 19 at 7 PM. Innovatively blending modernity and traditional Middle Eastern influences into a soundscape that electrifies audiences with its bilingual message of universal freedom and equality, 47SOUL has captivated a growing worldwide fanbase. 47SOUL-Tareq Abu Kwaik, vocals/MC, percussion; Ramzy Suleiman, vocals, keyboards, electronics; Walaa Sbeit, vocals, percussion; Hamza Arnaout, vocals, guitar, electronics-has become renowned for inventing their own genre, shamstep, a powerful mix of Arab roots music (dabke) combined with electronica, hip-hop and rock, and song lyrics in both English and Arabic. The band made its U.S. debut in January 2019 at Globalfest in New York City-called one of "5 Best Things We Saw" by Rolling Stone-and subsequently performed in March 2019 at the SXSW Festival.
