The Kartrite houses the largest indoor Waterpark in New York with 84-degree temperatures all year round. There are thrilling slides and areas for water play along with lounges and cabanas for leisure time. Attractions for all ages include Puddle Ducks for toddlers, Empire Bay Lazy River for all, and exciting water slides like the Nor'Easter, Time Warp, and the Krakken. The waterpark is available to guests of the resort and visitors can even purchase a day pass.

While the Waterpark is a go-to feature for many guests of The Kartrite, there is so much more to do at the resort. We like that there is a nice schedule of family activities and games along with adventures like the Playopolis Arcade, Skyscraper Climbing, Amazequest Laser Tag and more. We enjoyed the great outdoors with two local hiking trails. The spacious grounds also feature a children's play area, games like badminton, a giant chessboard, and corn hole. Don't be surprised to catch some top-notch entertainment on premises like a DJ spinning your faves or a musical guest. There's two nice shops for those looking to purchase mementos from their visit.

Have we mentioned dining? There are meals to satisfy many tastes with restaurants that are casual and fine dining choices. Bixby's Derby/Bixby's Tavern and Taproom features delicious gourmet meals. There are other top-notch eateries including a scrumptious buffet restaurant, Eat, Eat, Eat; Pop's Sweetshop; The Highline coffee shop; and a welcoming bar, Harvey's Wallbanger. In the Waterpark there's Surfside Grill and Bar Mez. When we were there, the resort had a special "Family BBQ" planned that delighted many. You don't have to be a guest to enjoy the resort's tempting restaurants, just stop by.

We particularly enjoyed a dinner at Bixby's Derby with their creative menu that features fine, locally sourced foods. We started our meal with refreshing artisanal cocktails, and a few starters for table sharing included their savory Potato Pancakes and a delicious Wild Mushroom Flatbread. For a main course, the tender Chicken Milanese was perfectly seasoned. Other tempting entrees include Stuffed Beaverkill Farm Trout, Papardelle Bolognese, and Scarlett Snapper.

Just before checking out, we indulged in a hearty buffet breakfast at Eat, Eat, Eat. It's a meal that will set you up for the day complete with omelets, pastries, breakfast meats, cereals, and fresh fruit and other tasty items.

When you are in the Sullivan County Catskills, local destinations abound that include Bethel Woods, the home of Woodstock. Their museum has a special exhibit celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the iconic music festival. Resorts World Catskills Casino is less than two miles from The Kartrite. And you can visit distilleries, a winery, enjoy theatre, or discover the local arts scene.
