JAZZYYC Summer Festival Postponed - International Jazz Days Festival Goes Online

This year's edition of the JazzYYC Summer Jazz Festival will be postponed to June 17 to 20, 2021 in a variety of locations throughout Calgary. JazzYYC will announce their lineup in late 2020 and early 2021 and will look forward to seeing everyone there once this curve is flattened.

In the meantime, they are excited to announce the first ever JazzYYC VIRTUAL International Jazz Days Festival online only starting International Jazz Day, April 30, and running until May 27, 2020.

This new Festival is in partnership with Jazz Home Delivery, the new online project by former CBC Tonic host Tim Tamashiro.

The VIRTUAL International Jazz Days Festival will feature Calgary artists along with other select Canadian artists and will be presented in a professional, quality-sounding, fun, entertaining, broadcast.

"With the current pandemic we wish all of our friends & patrons both good health and good wishes and apologize that we can't present our Summer Festival in the manner we originally set out," says JazzYYC Artistic Producer Kodi Hutchinson. "However, we are very encouraged and excited to bring this new virtual concept to audiences in Calgary and Internationally, and we look forward to our continued support of great jazz by local and national jazz musicians in conjunction with our friend, Tim Tamashiro. We look forward to seeing you all online starting Jazz Day, April 30."

Finally, JazzYYC will feature a series of educational jazz podcasts created by Calgary artists available throughout the Festival.

Tune in to CKUA's Jazz Days broadcast during the weekly jazz program A Time For Jazz on Thursday April 30 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for the Virtual Festival kickoff and watch for more news and presentations with partners including the City of Calgary, Music Monday, CADME and the Calgary Public Library.

The Virtual Festival lineup will be announced later in April.
