New Musical TREES to Play The Downstairs at La MaMa

La MaMa will present the world premiere of TREES, a new original musical by MUR. TREES gives audience's a window into the secret world of the forest. Inspired by the New York Times Bestseller, a??The Hidden Life Of Trees a?? by Peter Wohlleben, TREES follows the education of a young tree after the sudden death of her Mother. The other trees in the forest gather to teach the young tree about what they feel, how they communicate, and other discoveries of life and death on a polluted world on fire. TREES also includes text from the speeches of GRETA THUNBERG with original Music and Lyrics by MUR and Choreography by HANNAH CULLEN.

MUR is a New York City-based artist with a focus in music composition. Mur made his debut at the Guggenheim in 2020 with countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo and has exhibited and performed solo works in collaboration with La MaMa, National Sawdust, Le Poisson Rouge, Justin Vivian Bond, Alan Cumming, Jill Platner, The Wild Project, Illesteva, Susan Alexandra, Nordstrom, and Soho House. TREES is his third musical to premiere Off Broadway. Mur's visual work is on display at The Wild Bird Fund where he is the artist in residence. Follow him at @murnewyork

TREES THE MUSICAL runs April 2 - April 5, 2020. Thursday - Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 5pm. Running time is 60 minutes. La MaMa is located at 66 East 4th Street, between 2nd Avenue and Bowery.
