SDGMC Will Postpone RETURN TO BROADWAY Until August 1-2

SDGMC has been monitoring the latest developments surrounding COVID-19 and the potential impact on public gatherings, including our upcoming concert performances of "Return to Broadway." Their Board of Directors and staff have been reviewing the latest announcements from Governor Newsom and public health officials.

Out of respect for the health and safety of the audiences and singers, the decision has been made to postpone performances of "Return to Broadway" until August 1 and 2, 2020.

The summer concert, "The 80's," originally scheduled for August 1 and 2, will now be postponed until the summer of 2021.

The following statement has been released:

While the Governor's Office has recommended large group gatherings of 250 or more to be cancelled or postponed until after the end of March, and our concerts are not scheduled until the middle of April, we ultimately agreed that we cannot take the health of our singers and audiences for granted, especially those of us who are considered to be high risk. As a non-profit organization, we also had to take into consideration how an earlier decision will have less of a negative impact than one made later in April.

Our venue, the Historic Balboa Theatre, and the Civic Theatre in downtown San Diego have also canceled or postponed all engagements through at least mid April.

If you have purchased individual tickets for "Return to Broadway" on April 18 and 19, or you are a season subscriber, your tickets will automatically roll over to the new dates in August. Once we have ticketing logistics worked out with the Balboa Theatre, we will be reaching out to you with all of the details for all available options.

If you have not purchased tickets yet for "Return to Broadway," please join us in August! We will notify you by email when tickets will be available for sale online. Our singers and dancers have been working very hard on this show, and we are happy that we will still present our return to Broadway - just a little later than we originally planned.

This decision does not mean we will "go dark." We plan to be loud and proud this spring. If you have not done so yet, please follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/SDGMC) and Instagram (at @SDGMC) to stay in touch with what we are up to as we weather this current health situation.

Again: thank you for supporting SDGMC during this challenging time of wellness and economic uncertainty. Please be well and stay safe and healthy.
