HANSEL AND GRETEL to Play at Seoul Arts Center Take in a sugary-sweet classic tale, Hansel and Gretel, running at the Seoul Arts Center Opera Theater Dec. 5-8, 2019.

After two children, Hansel and Gretel, are creating chaos at home, their mother sends them into the forrest to pick strawberries for dinner. When their father comes home asking where his children are, the mother admits that she sent them to the forrest. This sends the father into immense panic as the forrest is haunted and inhabited by a witch who lures children to her gingerbread house to eat and kill them.

The two children are taking their strawberry picking very seriously when the sandman approaches them and sprinkles sand over their eyes to make them fall asleep. When the children wake up, they find a gingerbread house in the distance. They begin eating parts of the house when the witch invites them in. Hansel is suspicious and the two try to run away, only to be caught and trapped in a cage by the witch.

The cast for the opera features Justina Gringyte and Gae Hwa Yang as "Hansel," Kathleen Kim and Eun Hye Han as "Gretel," Dong Hwan Lee and Hyuk Lee as "Peter," Soo Yun Chung and Eun Kyong Lim as "Gertrud" and Jae Yoon Jung and Hyun Ki Min as "Knusperhexe."

The creative team includes Christian Pade (Director), Alexander Lintl (Set and Costumes), Franz David (Lighting).
