Penobscot Theatre Company Theatre Day Camp Promises A Fun-Filled February Vacation

Penobscot Theatre Company is hoping you'll join them during the area's school vacation week this February for a theatrical day camp. The series, to be held at their education space at 51-A Main Street in Bangor, is for children aged 4-14 and will take place February 17-21.

Camp days run from 9am-4pm, with structured activities provided all day. Daily themes provide flexibility in programming, and children may attend for the week or come for just one day. Each day at 3:30 there will be a "showcase" for families.

The week promises plenty of physical activity, time for socializing, and lots of fun!
Professional teaching artists Owen Sinclair and Mackenzie Peacock will lead the program and feature guest instructors from the theatre's technical department and artists from the Bangor area. This vacation camp provides a unique opportunity for students to receive expert guidance and feedback from professionals who are actively working in their respective fields.

Monday: Theater 101 This session is all about movement! Learn how actors use their bodies to tell a story and learn a little about how live theatre has evolved!
Tuesday: Musical Theater Learn a fun song and dance and explore the history of musical theater!

Wednesday: Shakespeare Stage combat, sword fights, and the world's most famous playwright. Yes, it's true that at one time all acting was done by men. Even the women's roles! Come find out what else there is to know about William Shakespeare!

Thursday: Design Day Lighting, and costumes, and sound! Oh my! There are so many "parts" to a successful play. Learn how designers bring a play to life! Design your own fantasy character and learn special effects make up!

Friday: Fairy Tales Where did fairy tales come from? Did they all start out as Disney movies? We'll end the week with a fun short play based on a famous fairy tale-everyone gets a part!

All activities will be held at Penobscot Theatre Company's classroom space at 51A Main Street in Bangor. February Vacation Camp costs $60 per day or $275 for the week. Tuition expenses may be eligible for a federal tax credit. Sibling discounts are available.
